Alternative Club Run

A good ride out today with a modest turn out of 8, Big Phil, Religious Pete, Conor 'the blarney' , Racer John, Crazy Tony, Bare Legged Robyn, John the Highlander and me. The plan was to go to Piccolo Svizzera, back way to Newdigate, stop at Henfold lakes then a return via Bletchingley and up over Farthing down.

We toddled out towards Chipstead but had a rest by a pond as crazy Tony seemed to disappear completely, it turned out he had a puncture and Pete helped or hindered and eventually we were on our way. Through Walton on the Hill but Conor left us as he had to go home to evict his daughter (hadn't paid her rent or something) so he turned round and then we were 7.

I had a puncture which was very exciting as I got to blow my tyre up with my gas canister for the first and last time and after that Big Phil couldn't help noticing how hard it was.

Racy John was showing us the way up the hills, Pete was very strong and Robyn was working well with her new nude legs. After some lovely lanes we wound up at Henfold lakes and there was great excitement when we all realised that they served beer  .

The 2 Johns hit the sauce immediatly with Whisky chasers with their cream teas and Robyn was on the Pernod and black.

Tony cooled off in the lake after winning the drinking game against Pete and that's when we were asked to leave.

It was a little subdued after that as we cracked on to Horley and then up the hill to Bletchingley.

Unfortunately, no thanks to the booze, Phil and Pete had a fight about giving a Brummie directions to Brighton

Once we got to the top it was a race down to Coulsdon, won by me I think :?

My magic box said we had climbed a total of 2965ft and covered a gentle 43miles

Thanks for a great ride, giggle and company but next time Tony NO swimming

 .

Be careful with those gas pumps, you can explode the tyre if you're a bit cack-handed... apparantly... .
