Reminder - road race session this Sunday

Postby richv » Thu Feb 23, 2006 4:43 am

Just a quick reminder that Paul Tunnell has organised a training session this Sunday for anyone interested in road racing this year.

I am sure it will be well worth attending - Paul is probably one of the most 'savvy' racers in the club.

It takes place at Newchapel Village Hall - details are in the training section. Drop Paul an e-mail if you want any further details/are interested in attending - paul.tunnell@landg.com

I'm going - should be a really useful session. Good workout for legs AND mind. Plus lunch afterwards while we thaw out.

I'm probably gonna drive there - and take some civvies to change into for lunch afterwards.

I can take one person plus bike if anyone wants a lift.

I will be there too, should be a good education.

Robbie - rough guess it's about 15 miles from Croydon. Down the A22 towards East Grinstead (Sean has directions on the digest). I'm going to drive, as Tamar says makes changing for lunch easier.

I can also give 1 person plus bike a lift if needed. Selson, via Warlingham and Caterham for a pick up enroute.

Cheers,
Andrew.

I am going. Come out and support this event. The weather doesn't look great but we need to make the event a success. So all you road racers in training come down !

Here are some directions related to the map shown below

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x ... search.srf

You?re looking for the area in the centre of the map, a rural area mid-way between Smallfield (which is east of Horley) and Newchapel, shown as being on the A22 (look to the west of Lingfield).

- You should see a circle of brown roads? that?s the circuit and the hall is on one of them.
- If you find yourself at Horne Golf Club on Croydonbarn Lane, then just 50m away is a T-junction leading into Bones Lane. Turn into Bones Lane and continue for a mile until you come to a hamlet. The village hall is there on the right.
- The map shows a yellow road with Horne Park Farm on one side of it and a couple of building and a telephone symbol marked on the opposite side?. the village hall is one of those two buildings.

- If you come from the M25:
- Leave at Junction 6 and go south on the A22.
After Godstone and a few roundabouts you are in countryside for another 6 miles. Then there is an other roundabout. This is Newchapel.
- Leave the A22 at the roundabout, following the B2028 heading west towards Crawley.
- Take a minor road to the right in just 300m, follow it for 500m and at the T-junction go left. You?ll find the village hall on your left in 400m.

Echo Alan's thanks to Paul and Keith. After the gale in your face club run I struggled a bit but had a good morning. Helpful advice and I now realise just how hard it is to jump / close down gaps even when working with others (much stronger than me).

Yeah, it really shows how vigilant you have to be to get in with the break as it goes and not end up having to jump across on your own.
