Bananas

Postby Alan M » Fri May 27, 2011 5:06 pm

I am currently sourcing food for feed stations for up to 250 riders. Advice please. How many bananas should I budget /person? And, where could I get a reasonably priced bulk order?

Don't know about banana budgeting but it may be worth popping down to Surrey Street Market and having a word with one of the good fruit stalls, could pick them up on Friday morning after they've been and collected them.

Alan,

Once you have the number of bananas that you want you could contact Tesco's and see if they will organise a bulk order, I have done this for beer, bread, burgers and onions on the behalf of the school PTA and it worked well. Or just go in and buy them as they should have a lot of stock.

Another option is taking a drive up to New Covent Garden and getting them direct from the suppliers there which will be much cheaper (but let me speak to somebody first if you thinking of this so that I steer you in the right direction)

Alex.

New Covent Garden is likely to be best value. I can go up there at stupid o'clock on Saturday morning if you want.

They will go further if you halve them - not everyone wants a whole banana at each feed station, and those who do will just take two halves.
