Wood or wood effect flooring is the way to go...as it lasts and looks good...and easy to clear up cat sick! :(

You can then use rugs to add warmth and colour

Carpet thoughts from Roy Boy ...
My next door neighbour has carpet tiles in her dining room to guard from her two dogs (not entirely successfully!). They are a reddish brown hue. She got them from Focus DIY store (there's one at Coney Hall). However, I think this chain is closing down, but may be taken over by Wickes. Another suggestion is Carpetright, or other large carpet outlets.
