Garmin Edge died in Colombian rain forest!

Postby Alan M » Sun Mar 25, 2012 11:51 pm

Panic, did a 75 mile run among tropical forests, hit some torrential rain and my Garmin Edge 705 died and will now only reignite momentarily - so I have lost precious feet on Strava challenge and can only record via iphone strava ap - not sure if that will work here. There seems to be a Garmin dealer here but will it be a Colombia specific edition or should i upgrade to a 800 - it is 3 years old - help I'm in crisis

No need to panic, people. In an update on Facespace, Alan has stated that his Garmin has started working again, so he can resume climbing hills. Apparently, it isn't worth climbing them unless you can record it on Strava chocolate orange segments or something like that....

Yes, I am returned to normal gadgetful zen state - off to climb a hill on a cable car - maybe I'll do a strava record to make up for yesterdays lost 4000 feet! Should make a great segment

I know what you mean Alan. It's my worst nightmare when the Garmin battery starts to run out on a long ride.

I had a tense 2 hour ride on one bar yesterday.....

Actually I'm amazed by Alan running 75 miles - and at his age too

Having tried, and failed, to stay on his wheel on several long rides in the past, I would not be at all amazed.
