ACC Promote Cyclo Cross at Bethlam Hospital on Wed Aug 29

Postby Mark Leedham » Wed Jul 11, 2012 9:03 pm

Jason Cattermole, Shaun Bayliss and others have gained agreement from the Bethlam Hospital facilities management team that LCCA can promote events at the hospital.

George Brent and I went down last week to help Shaun prepare the course. George nabbed the chainsaw, I got the spade. You drive through the hospital gates and out the back and you see acres of woodland and fields, I never realised that this fantastic open space existed so close to London.

Jason has got a facebook page up at the moment just to garner some interest, but will be putting out a flyer soon, once all clubs and sponsors are confirmed http://www.facebook.com/events/357773277621250/.

I have agreed that ACC will promote the first event on Wednesday August 29 - I am guessing an 18:00 start, but will confirm later

If any ACCers want to try Cyclo Cross before the Autumn rain sets in then this is a great opportunity. If you are really keen, you can go down now and try it out.

I am also looking for ACC members to help me run the event - sign on, lap scoring, marshalling. Please contact me if you think you can help.

***Non-PC joke alert***

You don't have to be mad to ride there but it helps.

Hey, guess what. I can probably make it over for this. I looked at public transport for getting there and it takes nearly an hour and a half... so will be coming on bike as it cuts travel time in half. What time is this likely to be finished as I would also like to head back for the Half'n'Half (but not leave my bike around in Croydon - or ride home half cut...)

Sorry, I've not been up to speed on this. I'm free late this afternoon, so will come along (with First Aid kit, Alan) and back to the Half & Half afterwards.

Just a quick note to thank all the ACC members who helped at the Bedlam Cross:

Amy, Conor, Alan, Huw, Lorraine, George, Tim, Casper and WIll.

All the riders gave me great feedback on both ACC Organisation and an excellent course at Bethlam Hospital.

We had 18 S/J/W/V riders, 17 Youths and 21 Under 12. Not bad for a first event on a Wednesday Night

The leading results were:
Senior:
1st 1 Ben Tulett Hargroves Cycles - Specialized
2nd 3 Tom Martin Herne Hill Youth CC
3rd 7 Noah Charlton VC Deal/Hammonds/ACTiV
4th 4 Peter Maytom Herne Hill Youth CC
5th 12 Irfan Zaman Bigfoot Cycling Club

Youth
1st 5 Daniel Tulett Hargroves Cycles - Specialized
2nd 1 Sam Titmarsh Team Darenth
3rd 10 Jake Charlton Thanet RC
4th 13 Thomas Finch VC de Londres
5th 2 Joseph Sutton Team Darenth

U12:

1st 1 Ben Tulett Hargroves Cycles - Specialized
2nd 3 Tom Martin Herne Hill Youth CC
3rd 7 Noah Charlton VC Deal/Hammonds/ACTiV
4th 4 Peter Maytom Herne Hill Youth CC
5th 12 Irfan Zaman Bigfoot Cycling Club

Are you entirely sure about the Senior results; they look remarkably similar to the U12 results. Having previously raced with Ben Tulett's father I am sure Ben Tulett will only have to wait a few years before winning the Senior race.
