When I checked for my Look I found that regular insurance was about 10 % of value and for racing insurance I got a quote of £700 ! Too expensive ! So I just stick out my elbows and keep shouting when I'm racing and make sure no-one gets close ! Too bad about the premium going up like that !

Mine are all covered on the household goods insurance through Marks and Spencers.
They cover all items "unlisted", meaning you don't have to tell them what you have, for up to £4000 per item.

I have the Premium insurance which means they are covered worldwide, I believe this includes racing!

If you get a quote from them, tell them that I recommended them to you, and I'll get a £10 M&S voucher which will let me buy some new boxer shorts - some people may think this is important

Be careful of expecting house insurance to cover you. Four people at work have had their bikes stolen recently and in every case their insurance companies refused to pay up.

Also compare the cover provided by house insurance and that of a dedicated bike insurance. Usually the bike insurance is wider.

Check out CTC bike insurance, in my opinion it's one of the better ones, all though I don't know if they cover racing. The CTC insurance is one of the few to cover your bike if it's in a garage or shed but is not locked to something immovable.

Some insurers won't even cover you if you're a few yards from your bike and watching it unless it is also locked to an immovable objct.

The M&S insurance does have an excellent reputation in this regard however, I got mine after careful research...

Thanks for the tip on M&S insurance, I was looking to change and you have saved a lot of leg work.
