[quote="Andrew G"]I hear some of these old fellas do regular altitude training though.

Yeah, it must be pretty tough being a full-time cyclist as well.

If by regular you mean once a year I suppose that is true - but I doubt that it is nearly as important than the abundance of testosterone exhibited by some younger cyclists (well the male ones at least)

Ben,

If you do not have the numbers for separate races, you could have some of the categories racing together but award separate prizes for the different categories, as they do in the Vets races I think. I'm not sure whether that would be allowed for the juniors though - there might be rules for that, though probably not since it is just a club race.

Alternatively, you could run them as a handicap, though I don't know on what basis you would handicap.

Maybe you should aim for separate races, but set a lower number of participants under which you won't run it separately. There doesn't seem much point in running a seoparate race with only 3 people in it say.

Bridget. Thanks for the comments/suggestions. Have also had useful ideas from Paul, Huw and Phil regarding the races themselves and some sort of social afterwards.
In terms of prizes. I'l ask the committee what trophies are available.
Marek / Alan. If the numbers are their, we might be able to slice and dice accordingly. But more likely at this stage. An A and B race.

It would be nice to have enough ladies to run a race for them. Not just because I know several would kick my seatpost in the B race.

I think it would probably work to have a number of catgories racing at the same time with prizes for different groups (as Bridget suggested). If there is a good sized field for the A race it may make sense for it to run separately. I think that it would be more enjoyable to have a good number of riders on the circuit as, (based on my limited experience there), I would expect the B race / womens race to split up in to smaller groups rather than stick as a large bunch as it would at Hillingdon. If people who are new to racing are willing to give it a go and we get plenty of riders, I think it could be a really good venue to get small groups working together.
