Just another reminder. This is a cheap and fun event. Don't expect any mod cons like tarmac though.

Since CSS is pretty much the opposite direction to the start for me, we'll be going straight to Rykas. Get there early and enjoy the leather/lycra fetish club atmosphere. It's been done a coupe of times on fixed so even if you have a 39x25 there's no excuse.

Glad you enjoyed it, Jon. I remember the first time I introduced the Addiscombe to this event - you should've seen the whingeing on the forum - 'oooh that was hilly', 'tough', 'thought it was a CTC event'

Visibility was a bit iffy. Coming down into Dorking was interesting with cars overtaking bikes coming up the other way.

Lots of people on the ride despite the dodgy conditions. It seems to get bigger every year.

I'd been off the bike for a few weeks so the ideal way of getting back into it was to hit a load of steep climbs. Tom enjoyed it too - he managed Whitedown without putting a foot down despite us both being pretty knackered by then.

Someone has made it into a Strava segment. I see the best time is 1 hour 47minutes - 18.3mph. Blimey.
