Hayfever - Any magic remedies?

Postby Andrew G » Mon May 08, 2006 11:22 pm

Does anybody know of anything I can take to help with hayfever? I suffered badly at the end of last week which doesn't bode well for summer (if it arrives). I find the one a day pills only last for about 3 hours.

I've booked to see the doctor but would rather avoid popping pills if possible.

Any suggestions grateful received.

Thanks, Andrew.

Try taking the occasional sauna. It's worked wonders for me - I used to suffer quite badly with hayfever, and now I've got it down to barely a whimper.

Not sure whether there's any scientific basis for this, but I'd definitely give the sauna a try.

I use Beconase spray, works very well for me, I've tried most things over the years, pills never work for me, but to be honest everyone is different and diff products work differently in each of us....its a case of trail an error.

hope this helps

Thanks for the ideas, think I'll give a spray a try as it has to be healthier than pills.

Sean's suggestion has to worth trying though :)

I second the beconase (or boots cheaper copy) approach. Pills were rubbish - made me drowsy - not good cycling. Nasal spray seems to get to the affected nose/eyes area more effectively.

My boss here says he uses cigar smoke. He doesn't normally smoke but keeps some cigars handy for when the symptons get too bad.

So a Thai (full body no holds barred - ed) massage, in a sauna, smoking a cigar, with a peg on my nose should fix it! :D
