Here are some final instructions from Phil which have been sent around. I will also lead a steady ride to the start from Charlwood as part of my normal club run - others are arriving around 1pm as requested below - weather for Saturday looks OK so bring water and sunscreen. There are 45 riders 27 of whom are women so a good response.

I have shared a link to my drop box below which I hope will give you access to the start sheet - see you tomorrow

Note that as is usual for TTs, it is up to the riders to be safe, avoid cars and observe the highway code. Unlike a road race, there is no stopping of traffic.

From the map that Andrew has provided on the start sheet, there are the following locations that we need to man to comply with the CTT regs (and benefit from their insurance).

1x sign-on at HQ - this is giving out numbers, making sure people sign in properly.
2x canteen - vital at a TT is providing tea and cake
2x pushers. Since it's more than a few riders then it's nice to have a break.
1x marshall for the turn from Spook Hill onto the A24
1x marshall to point the way onto the A29 from the Beare Green rbt
1x checker at Beare Green (I will provide you with a sheet and you just tick off the numbers as they go through)
1x marshall at Beare Green to point riders coming up the A24 to the finish
1x marshall at the left from the A29 onto Marches Road
1x checker
1x marshall at the left from Marches Road onto the A24
1x checker
1x finish line spotter (in case riders come through in groups to assist the timekeeper in seeing numbers)
1x finish recorder - to report the finish times to the HQ

Please, please if you are helping out on the course, come to the HQ and get a Hi Viz vest from me. This isn't an "elf and safety gorn mad" thing - if drivers see people at junctions wearing these then they know something is happening and to be aware. We haven't had any accidents at our open TTs in many years so let's keep it that way.

Well what a pity! It came to pass that roadworks have prevented this event. I feel sorry for the participants but appreciation to all those who volunteered to marshall, baked cakes or otherwise assisted in the organisation. It is particularly annoying since it was promoted as a mainly women's event and there was a good field waiting to go! I have added your names to the database as having completed a duty since many of you had already given up your usual saturday ride in favour of marshalling. Many thanks, Alan

Bum, shame about this and those roadworks have been going on for ages. I think they were originally due to finish a couple of months ago.

Has good legs today too, typical. Gutted for Phil who'd put a lot of work in to his results app to have a proper year today.

They were new roadworks. I was alerted yesterday and looked them up to see "Tree cutting" - which doesn't happen at the weekend. Sure enough when I drove down there, there were cones, traffic lights but no works - which is doubly annoying.

Still, I have time before the Open 10 to test my software properly. Now I've cracked getting the Vets standards working it's just a few more adjustments to make it do any distance and provide a web page for competitors to see the results as they come in.
