I believe CSC have been based in Italy - Riis has strong ties down there, speaks fluent Italian.

Floyd used to have ties to Ferrari. Basso to Cecchini. Did Tyler have contact with Fuentes? I haven't checked to see if TH has made any statements on his site regarding the current debacle.

Phonak must have heard something to tie those two to a bag of blood.

I want Floyd for the podium. I still think he can get there with a weaker team, provided he gets a little shelter here and there. And if he gets angry, watch out. He's got a little of Pantani's temperament.

What about Leipheimer? It's been very quiet at Gerolsteiner.

Interesting that Riis says he's put Basso on an Armstrong training regime, but they're really anti-Armstrong in terms of Ullrich in the media. Armstrong and Bruyneel buttered him up, Riis is really slamming him.

And furthermore ... why is the British press treating Bradley Wiggins like the Second Coming? Why does he talk himself up so much? A pursuit is not a Prologue. He gets humiliated time and again, like in the Dauphine prologue yesterday. I think he should just shut up and ride. So he's English - big deal. When he wins something off the track, THEN it's time to talk.

Wiggins was 4 seconds slower than Valverde who admits he can't time trial to save his life. That doesn't bode well for the Tour prologue.

Ah, but if Vino's better than Basso in the TT and better than Ullrich in the mountains he could get a podium spot. I think he's a bit too impulsive and impatient. And what sort of team will he have, if any?

Bradley Wiggins could come good for the Prologue (2007?) but I agree with the 'talking himself up' argument. This is similar to the British (sic) press talking up England's chances of winning the World Cup.

On Giro form, it's Basso's to lose, but Floyd and Jan could shake him up. Even Popyvich maybe.
