Highclere Castle Cyclosportive..

Postby Brian Nolan » Tue Jun 27, 2006 11:42 am

When I got back to the car after the Dragon, there was a flyer on the windscreen for this event. Just looked at it on the web ( http://www.cyclegb.co.uk/cyclosportive.asp) and it looks quite good and close to home...
I must be getting hooked on this sportive lark 'cos I just registered for it. Plus it gives me something else to aim for as the only one I have left to look forward to is the Spud Riley in September..

Me too.

I can also reccomend these three for great organisation and courses.

The North one is a bit far to travel but the West and South events are really good courses

the South one - Abergavenny, clashes with the Highclere Castle one unfortunately. The North Wales ( Rhyl ) one is the next Sunday after the Spud Riley - so that might be a bit too close together for me.. Which leaves the West one at Swansea on the 1st of October - I might be up for this one..... mmmmmmmm....

Oh and don't forget there's that very very short cyclosportiv at Eastway on Sept 24th Brian. You're in the C for Cyclosportiv Group

Hi Toks,

yes - forgot about the proposed Addiscombe race meeting. I will be up for that as a last chance to sample Eastway .. As long as i'm in the slow handicapped group...

I think after July 8th (the day of La Marmotte) I will have had my fill of cyclosportives - all these really long challenges that sap your energy and leave you flaked out for a few days after.........bring on the road racing !

I've put my name down for this one. I know quite a bit of the southern part of the route from my yoof. The ride along the Test valley north from Romsey is a particular favourite.

Given that Lord Carnarvon owns Highclere, I can only hope that the curse of Tutankhamun does not strike.
