club ride....'ALL FOR THREE, THREE FOR ALL'....

Postby Stu Merckx Man » Sat Oct 21, 2006 1:05 pm

a fair amount of people turned up today....just almost none of them wanting to go in the training group.

in the end josh bravely stepped forward , followed by jim and (i think) rob.

was meant to be a 18-19 mph ride...

anyways, jim set off at a moderate pace, sticking to the 18-19 thing... up the duel carrige way we rotated round a bit all taking the front, (admittedly i did try and speed up a bit when i was there)

as we approached the big hill by the petrol station jim took lead...and set a training group pace up the hill...i managed to stick to his wheel, although it was a fair old pace.. unfortunatly i bit to fast for josh who dropped off about half way up leaving 3 of us...

as we got into the lanes a nasty head wind caught us and slowed our pace a bit...however what was meant to be a 18-19 ride was by this point a 21 mph ride :D

again we wall shared the front as we got into rusper, we (mainly me) diceded we did not want to do the through and off... istead jim lead the 3 of us on a....facininating...detour through iles field (i think it was that)....jim kindly lead us towards the signs at charlswood, i broke out for a sprint which i won...(though i did have an advantage being at the back). jim and rob went off home before stopping at the cafe...the call of cake was to strong for me..

on the way back i hatched another plan to break away at the top of the hill after the m25. (if ever you have a plan dont tell alan...he blurts it out) :P ....as we approached mestrem monty and somone else (sorry dont know his name) made a courageous break for it but a few of us stuck with them....now there was a gap between us and the peliton, and with my plan foiled i had to think fast..

the anser came to me in the form of MONTY who kindly lead me through mestrem (thanks)...at the m25 i made my break... pushed myself hard, only to find i was bieng followed...again i thought about trying to get away but i thought he could be helpful.....he tagged on behind me and then we alternated down the dual carrige way only to get caught at some traffic...then alan the sneeky g*t went round the outside thinking he was going to win...

thankfully my companion and i, (sorry i dont no your name) made a 30mph effort to catch up alan...we whipped passed him (muhuhaha) and my break away partner lead me under the bridge (cheers)...i let him tire a bit then made one big push brfore the station...one the sprint but not by that much..

good ride, avs when i got home 20 mph

cheers

stuart...

Well done Stuart - you must realise that your youthful advantages mean that I can do anything short of murder to stem your juices - watch out for slow punctures and substances in your tea - anyway, we are now into the steady months and I assume that you'll begin a programme of steady longer rides to build stamina alongside your fitness and competitive enthusiasm.

Our cunning plan to slow stu down should be fairly easy.. we just need a few girls to come along to the J4F groups, most young 'uns are lead by their hormones
