Yes, Andrew...he takes the frames to a shot blaster that strips all the paint off. Then he does his various coats of paint plus laquer.
£40 was for a plain colour. Metalic was £50 if memory serves.
This was a couple of years ago though.

The respray cost ( I think its now £45 ) is for one plain colour plus varnish only . My road frame has 2 colours so as a sucker for the retro look I’m paying on extra £10/15 for this

The only other cost to consider is the transfers - Vaz charges approx £20 for the supply and install all the manufacturers and Reynolds transfers.

Decal fading may be reduced by asking for an extra layer of varnish

Only concern now is that I wont want to ride my pristine frame …..

With the world and his wife going to be turning up to the CR on a fixed with a Vaz respray I think I'll have a look at them to see what his ye olde craftsmanship is like.
Mr. Lombari's Bicicletta nera does have a very good finish.
Probably wait until the worst of winter's over anyway so I don't have to put mudguards over the shiny new paint. :D

Just to bring this thread back on subject, I should be out on the Dave Russell (rather pricey Mercian respray, 68") on Saturday.

My spell-check wants to replace 'fixie' with 'foxier' by the way. Which I think is rather neat.

I usually join the 'Gentlemen's 18' (or similar) group on fixed. The plan was for a separate fixed group if there are enough out, but it sounds as if a fair few are still in bits in people's sheds. Once they are all built up though, we might even need to split the fixie groups according to gear inches 8) .

I'm running 66" or 69" I can't remember waht the sprocket size is.
Anyway see how we go.

3 agreeable people were out on fixed bikes yesterday.
Mike, me and another chap who I didn't have a chance to chat to.

Mike, a regular fixed rider and I were on similar gears 45x18 and 44x18 and we kept up fine with an 18mph group although we took the earliest left turn to the cafe and got a seat :P

My back is a bit sore today.

I really enjoyed it. The return climb to the church in Redhill was perfectly manageble.
