As to the writing in training diarys - there is a historical basis for this, the phrase 'taking names' is used in cycling, particularly in America where you you will often here the phrase "Dude I was on I fire, I was taking names," meaning simply that you would include the names of riders you'd beaten on that ride in your training diary.

So if you get a pasting by Marek on the training group ride - you've had your name taken
