Camera phones

Postby higg » Sat Mar 10, 2007 8:14 pm

Recently I got a new Sony phone with a 2MP camera. Not having had a camera phone before I tried it out a the recent Winter Series in Hillingdon. The results are here:

As you can see the quality's not great. It does avoid having to carry a camera and a phone on rides which is good but I miss the zoom, autofocus and some control over the light metering. The lens is quite wide-angle so only really works for a certain type of shot and the 2MP means when you crop the quality isn't great. Haven't tried to print any yet mind.

Has anybody else tried to use a phone camera for proper photos or is it really just a gimmick?

i have the nokia n80, although generally a crap fone. the camera is good.

have taken many a memorable snap with it, even pix of world cup meeting at manchester velodrome. and they were bloody fast!

printed pix are also good, but no substitute for a 'real' camera. unfortunately. but i think there is work to be done yet...
