New bike advice Bianchi carbon

Postby Dombo » Thu Apr 26, 2007 9:11 am

Hi all, anyone got any experience of the Bianchi 928 carbon lugged bikes, or Bianchi in general?

The mighty Evans seem to have some particularly generous discounts at the moment, so I'm looking to upgrade my nameless blue steed for upcoming Dragon, UK Etape etc.

I've seen a few Bianchis on the Saturday CRs but not been along lately due to house move so unable to ask in person.

Thanks for any advice

Great frame - light, responsive & comfortable. I need all the help I can get at my age and this bike delivers it in spades. Got mine from GB's in the Xmas sale, so also try there & ask for 10% discount.

Got it narrowed down to two now, the lugged Bianchi in carbon with Veloce kit and a Lemond Buenos Aires, carbon cockpit ie seat stays, seat tube and top tube ( the rest in fancy steel Platinum True Temper OX).

Both are same price and same RRP, £1600, but the Lemond has better kit, all Ultegra and Bontrager RaceLite wheels. Shifters and wheels alone are £200 more on the Lemond, so this makes me think the Bianchi is the better frame.

FWIW Lemond has a normal headset whereas Bianchi is integrated. Don't know if that's as important on road bikes as on mtbs.

Not sure on Bianchi frame warranty, whether it is lifetime like the Lemond.

Any further views welcome, especially problems/negative points on either machine.

Many thanks.

Well, if you will insist on plugging copyists, why not go the whole hog - SRAM.

Thanks guys. Next time I'm spat out the back at least I won't be able to blame the bike.
