Lubrication?

Postby simonfrench » Fri Oct 03, 2003 9:44 am

Coming from an MTB background, I'm used to using 'oil' to oil my chain .. i.e. the wet dirty stuff.

I've seen dry lubricants in bike shops and lots of shiny bikes on club runs and assume one is probably the reason for the other.

Anyone got any recommendations - what works and doesn't?
Cheers

Simon

I have just started using White Lightning and it seems to do the job. Cleaned my bike on Thursday and not too much rubbish on the chain as opposed to usual when I was using WD40 and oil.

Need to clean the chain and cogs really thoroughly first and then let chain etc dry for a couple of hours. Then apply White Lightning and let dry for another couple of hours before riding out.

Cheers

Marek....

I always thought White Lightning was a very strong cider that tramps and students drink when they can't find Special Brew. Well it was when I was a student anyway. Seems like a waste to put it on your bike chain.

They certainly used to fall over a lot more. So undoubtedly yes.

There was other evidence - but best I don't go there..
