I bought a Cateye Strada from Google and had no end of problems trying to get it working. I have just sent it back and got a fancy cateye CW200 Heart Rate and Speedo for £53, again from Google. Anyhow, it looks cool, but again I'm having problems getting it working. It will only record speeds of up to 8pmph at the moment....

I think that the moral of this story is, that buying from a shop nearby is worth it for some items where set up is key..£10 is not that much for the service...

I had the CS100 and it was terrible.
The first one I had was dead on arrival, so I returned it for a replacement.

On the replacement one, the speed sensor was dead, so I went out and bought a new one. It worked ok-ish. However, the HR readings were totally unreliable. Sometimes they would just cut out and other times they'd give wildly inaccurate readings. Very annoying.

In the end I returned it.

I was speaking to Kevin Rynne the other week and he has a better CS version than me and he said his had never worked properly.

HRM tend to go a bit mad occaisionally with power lines or other radio interference. If you ride close to a load of automatic doors they can zero as well, I think it's the same with cordless computers (poss not the newer digital ones). My HRM always goes to zero when cycling up to Selsdon and that road is a well known black spot for signals (phones etc).

I've also got a Strada, no problems great little machine.

I'd just look at the display and find the cadence figure telling me I should be spinning quicker, and the heart rate figure simultaneously telling me to stop PDQ.

Hey Sean, have you considered something a bit more fancy such as a GPS based cycling computer. Before you assume they are too expensive, they have come down quite a bit in price ... Considering the features, £180 is not bad compared to some of the Polar offerings ... and for an extra £35 you can add a cadence sensor. You will be able to spend hours analysing your rides and races, plotting them on Google maps/earth, along with your speed, HR, cadence, altitude, etc ... just a thought.

having used both polar and garmin products I'd say that I prefer the garmin. you don't get such an in depth analysis of your session with garmin but if you use it with motionbased you'll see that this doesn't matter.
