This coming Sunday (9th), there will be two mountain bike rides taking place and for once, both will be published
The local (and more beginner friendly) one will be the usual East Croydon ride, meeting at the station at 10am and heading off into the area between Croydon and the North Downs. The pace will be relaxed enough for beginners but as always, those wanting to burn it up can fly off the front and re-group at a convenient location. The idea so far is to head out to the Wall of Death. Please do not be put off by the name, nobody is forced or encouraged to do anything they don't want to do, although it's always entertaining watching those who do ride it.
The other ride will be a Leith Hill one and will be of a more advanced level (in technical ability, not in fitness; I am crap at climbing hills). The meeting place will be Landslip Car park at Coldharbour at 10:30am here.
The idea is to ride as much of the singletrack as possible, only using wider trails where absolutely necessary, with frequent stop-offs to mess about on the jumps and drop-offs that the area is famous for. We'll be heading for all the well known trails (Deliverance, Wave of Mutilation, Foot and Mouth, White Jam, etc) so if you're heard about them and are curious, come along.
Next Sunday, it's my turn to lead the East Croydon ride so watch this space and prepare to ride all the local singletrack (regardless of it's legality )
