Put your vinyl on your iPod as well.

If you have a cd recorder it's a doddle, if not, but like me you have a mini disc recorder (I have a MD deck which makes life easier) then you....

1) Record the vinyl to MiniDisc and insert the track breaks - Analogue now converted to digital :) .
2) Plug your MiniDisc player in to your computer. I use an iBook and have a gadget (can't remember name) that cost about £30 and lets you plug in a MD player via a male to male lead, and then plug the gadget in to the iBook via USB.
3) There is some simple recording software that comes with above mentioned gadget that will allow you to play MD and record on the computer as an AIFF file (bloody huge file, about 10 times lerger than an mp3).
4) Open iTunes and import the AIFF file, then use iTunes to convert from AIFF to mp3.
5) Delete the AIFF file.

Takes a while but I just did it with the LPs and 12" that were rare(er) and can't be replaced without spending more than I would be prepared to these days.

[quote="huw williams"]safely wrapped up and locked away in the attic of an ex-girlfriend in Finsbury park - I can't even begin to think about what to do with that :-o

Nice, that way when they all catch fire it'll be her ceiling that caves in with nigh on no warning then :?

Exactly - for those momens when your cat eats the ipod and you realise you should've backed up all your music months ago

I notice on that site that you can now get a Terabyte of memory for under £200 :-O

Thats more memory than they had to run the first space shuttle mission
