Where did you get this idea Huw?

I'd like to paraphrase the late, great (and fellow Teesider) Brian Clough when asked about why he had never been given the England Wendyball manager's job: "Young man, I think they turned me down because they were worried that I'd take the whole place over and run it as I would like to see it run, with no place for the old stuffed shirts. They were verywise, because that is exactly what I would have done."

As I have said here (and there and everywhere) on several occassions, if you do not want a road racing licence and you want to actually get something done to help the lot of the cyclist in this country, join the CTC or LCC, but don't give your money to BCF.

For me, the only advantage to the (free) Bronze membership that ACC membership allows you to claim is the opportuntiy to resign my BCF membership again, and to write a letter telling them why.

It is I that is on the (South East) Board.

I have a degree of sympathy with BC, because basically at grass roots level, ie in the local Regions, there are a huge number of committed well meaning constructive people that support cycling in all it's forms and provide a lot of racing to boot.

However, where it seems to fall down is whenever Manchester get involved and decide what is best for us without involving us at a local level, Rammey Marsh for example.

They are the NGB of our sport and have produced some amazing results with the introduction of WCPP and Talent Teams.

If you want to rubbish BC as I know many do, put yourself up for election and come along to meetings and actually do something about it (that's why I go along) instead of just moaning.
