Sorry Snoop  .

Paul I mean the impact resistance of the polystyrene, ability to absorb knocks. Motorbike helmets are the same and the manufacturers also recommend regular replacement, thar's why they have a date sticker in them so you can tell how old it is.

Think of how bendy a polystyrene floor/ceiling tile (or similar) is when new, and how easily it snaps after a few years.

Sorry to hear about the incident Tamar. Glad to hear you're ok.

I heard about a similar that happened to another cyclist yesterday. Luckily he was ok too.

It's just dreadful how some motorists can be such bigots

wal, do all those figures and information and links you put up relate to road or mtbers?? (didnt have time to read it!)

and also this CTC and BCF stuff and the like, dont know much about it, but does it cover super negligent mtb riders like myself, or is my life legally down to me when i step off the road?

Yeah, it's about road riding. I reckon the performance of helmets in an off road context would be even harder to quantify. But even off road I wouldn't expect a helmet to save me from anything worse than minor bumps and scrapes.

I'm not sure - I must read the fine print!
