ok... would anybody be interested in the bike if i added a few bits?

I am thinking about putting decent front brake and converting it FULLY to single speed...... then this bike will be a superb every day bike.

can add rear brake as well if people are perverted enuogh to want that?!?!

this bike is good and i always change my mind about selling it, but i really need something tougher..

ps. im not returning to bmx but i do need a bike built to take some s**t

Hi there,

Can you tell me what size frame - i.e. a guesstimate of height of person it suits?

Cheers

Simon

Yes...... 53-56cm would be good for me.

Can you hazard a guess at the year, please - if possible :P ?

Oh blimey I thought no-one wanted it... so i did some work on it...

Anyway its a 53cm frame and i think its about 2 maybe 3 years old. It was bought from G.Butlers by the original owner..

It has a few scratches but good and solid no dents.

Today i added a new lever (small bmx style) to the aero bars (front brake) just needs dialing in ..

like i said i have all parts that were removed, apart from the seat, just needs setting up the way you want it.

Labrat: I'm interested, cheap road bike is better than adding slicks to MTB. I live in Croydon too..... do you have a photo or more details?

Marco: Yep, marco it was me. I did go out too, thanks for asking.

Well, the weather was far from ideal with stupidly-gusty headwind on the way there, and rain/cold. Therefore, seemingly the fast guys came out.... about 20 people.

I was doing ok for a mile and a half or so, but I had to stop to adjust seatpost. Many thanks to Tim Coales - who nursed me over some hills when I was really suffering (took shortcut through Reigate), and was generally pleasant and funny when talking to him - got to Charlwood and Pine Cafe.... enjoyed it slightly more with tailwind on the way back.

So I didn't get on too well, considering. 31.2 miles in total..... But I'm going to do it again - I'll come back for '1st saturday of the month' ride methinks, weather pending - with new helmet and maybe slicks

Hi,

Just so you know - I'm looking for something smaller for the girlfriend to get into Tri - she's 5'6" so I was thinking 50cm or less. So count me out.. thanks.

Cheers, see you on CR April probably..

I'm only 5' 5" and ride a 53cm, so a 50cm for someone an inch taller than me may be a tad small.

I'm not too oaf fey with Tri bike set-ups so I may be wrong.

a 51 or 52 would be better for a woman of 5'6", better still get her measured for a better fitting bike. women can be a bit funny in dimensions, long legs shorter body etc. so whats right for a man of the same height isnt necessarily right for a woman.

Thanks for all the advice - yes agree women usually have differnt proportions ... she's a similar inside leg to me (I'm 4" taller) but just lowering the seat an inch on my 56cm road bike wouldn't work - I don't think she'd get near the handle bars.

Ok I'll keep an eye out for a second hand 51-52 .. my plan is to buy something cheap to get her hooked - then she can buy her own to fit! )

Cheers

No wasn't me.

She's not new to cycling - she gets around Richmond park on an MTB with slicks every now and then, but she is new to 3 hour rides like club runs etc.

As for Alf Garnet - I didn't realise he made bikes?
