As part of the BC coaching programme I had to do a first aid module.
So for the last 4 days I've been intensely cramming medical conditions and suitable treatments into my head as well as administering CPR, applying dressings and bandages, mouth to mouthing and re-starting stopped hearts, all under the supervision of our glorious Red Cross training corps. Anyway the final exams went well and I qualified in all areas - as luck would have it the scenario I had to deal with at the end was a multiple cycling crash - there were pretend victims all over the road, claret everywhere and at one point a man resembling Stu running round with concussion. "No problem" I said to the examiner "This looks like an ACC club run to me" as i reached for the nearest defibrilator.
Anyway, upshot is I'm now a fully qualified first aid person so if you crash on the road - CALL A CAB and get out of there! Otherwise I might try and snog you back into life when all you've got is a swollen toe - I've got to get practice somewhere you know
Seriously though, can anyone else with first aid qualifications please post here so I know who you are (only if you don't mind divulging such info of course) its not obligatory
Also since starting the course I realise the importance of forewarning on these things so if anyone has any medical conditions please please please enter them on your membership cards (new ones out soon) so that when I or any other first aider finds you dribbling by the side of the road/track, we at least have an idea of what's wrong.
I'm also available to cover weddings, bar mitzvah's etc etc at reasonable rates - "Red Cross are volunteers" I hear you say - Pah, If Jon Avery expects mouth to mouth from me he's bloody paying for it - BIG TIME
