Daren Injured

Postby Marek » Sun May 09, 2004 8:12 pm

Today in the ladies mile Daren crashed on a very fast descent, I would estimate that he would have been going at about 35mph to 40mph. I did not see the incident, but those that saw it said it looked very nasty.

He was taken to hospital in Tunbridge Wells. His knee is badly gashed and he has a lot of other minor injuries, mainly cuts and scrapes. Just spoke to his misses and she says they gave him morphine to help with the pain. They are operating on his knee to try and close up the wound as not much skin left around that area to stitch up. He will be staying in Hospital overnight, not sure if longer.

Overall I think he is alright but I doubt he will be out on his bike for a while.

I am sure that he will be looking at the net when he gets better, so Daren, get well soon hope you have a speedy recovery.

Cheers

A speedy recovery Daren. Knowing you I would not be surprised if we see you at the handicap race on Thursday with the bandages still on!.
Cheers

Message from Darens wife:

Hello There Everyone!!
Just to let you know that Daren had an operation on his knee this evening. They cleaned the wound and have managed to stitch it!! Hooray!! He won't be on his bike for a while which will make him cross but he is very lucky to have not done anymore damage. When I phoned the hospital he was sitting up eating a sandwich and they said that if all goes well he could come home tomorrow evening. They were a bit concerned about him having a high temperature but they have him on antibiotics. Thank you for the phone calls and e-mails asking about him!

Yeah, get well soon, daren.
I reckon the painful part will be being off the bike for a couple of weeks.
Don't let it get you down

Tough luck on the fall but you'll be up and running soon.

Hi All, Thanks for all your wishes for Daren! He is still in hospital and may not get out until Thursday. He is pretty ticked off as he just wants to get home! I will have to hide his turbo trainer so he isn't tempted to get on his bike.
