Has the UCI totally lost the plot?

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are regarding the UCI, and how much they are to blame for the current state of cycling in general.

Personally, their lastest actions in attempting to sue WADA have made me start to think they have totally lost control now. Are they that desperate for power?

What with their inability to agree with the race organisers on the ProTour and drugs etc. And its funny how the riders and teams know which side their bread is buttered on, by siding with the organisers. How long will it be before the organisers set up a new governing body and run their own world championships? I can really see that happening the way things are going right now.

Another TT bike spawned from early 90s, ever so slightly influenced by Obree.

Nice hidden front brake (fixed wheel so no brake at the back). I'm not even sure you'd get a fag paper between the front wheel and the "nose" that clearance looks so close.
Not the most stable of machines but then it was hardly built for crit racing.

There should be more respect from organisers etc for the governing body of the sport, but the problem is the UCI seem to do everything in their power to destroy any level of respect anyone may have ever had. I don't think it's anything new, my Dad's told me before they were just as useless in the 50s and 60s .

Recently watched the flying scotsman and read Dr Hutch's book "The Hour" and all the guff about the "athletes hour" and it's hard to comprehend what good they think they're doing.
Agree with marco's comments 100%, ok there needs to be some form of regulation for racing/competition to work and have some sort of level playing field, but you've just got to feel that bicycle development and advancement has been far less that it could have been for the past 15 years.

Time for the Jaffer Rebel league,

I really surprised at how brilliantly the Indian Premier League looks like going.

They got money through selling the franchises for ridiculous prices, and then sold the players that had pledged their allegiance. Sponsorship revenue is huge, and movie stars are all over the league wanting a piece of the action. Oh yeah and I think you have to renew your franchises. Thats how to do it. I must say the Americans got it right with American Football, and the Indians are following suit.

lol. every sport is an industry. every league is a business. there is a way to do it and a way not to.
look at the Premier League, and tell me they are not run like a business. But at the same time, the governing body cannot stifle change and development, the FA could be seen as guilty of that through the delaying of the implementation of video referees. I agree with not changing the rules to suit money making, but sport grows through business. If FIFA had implemented rules so that new technology could not be applied to footballs, then that would be detrimental to the sport. The UCI seem not to realise this.
