Thanks for all the good wishes, folks. I currently have iodine pads on all the grazes, hopefully be sufficiently healed in time for next week's club run...

I need help on my Road-Rash, where did you get the patches and do they work or is it best leave them open?????

I would have got the hydrocolloid patches recommended by Ivor, but my local pharmacy didn't have them so I had to settle for iodine gauze patches, which keep the wound clean but aren't as effective at preventing it from drying out.
Consensus seems to be that it's better to keep wounds dressed than to leave them open, which will allow them to dry out and crack, prolonging the healing process.

Possibly - I have been using my old white Marin MTB this week, and was wearing shirt and trousers on my way home last night. I don't think I went around a roundabout though...

I've been covered in patches/pads which seem to be doing a fantastic job.
The product is called 'Mepilex', not sure if you can buy them as the hospital put them on me during moaning at how expensive they are. The phrase 'Am I bovered' come to mind.
I think its a space age Silicon based foam pad that feels really good on the sore bits, the say that they should be left on for 5 days then Hey Presto...... cured.
Staying on the bike is a different way to a pain free life

cool. yup they're hydrophilic dressings. Actually slighly cheaper than the hydrocolloid ones so they shouldn't be complaining
.The difference between the two is the hydrocolloid one doesn't dissolve, I guess the mepilex ones rely on the foam backing absorbing the dissolved material.
The stated 5 days is a bit optimistic to keep the dressings on but you'll have to be the judge of that, basically the more the wound exudes the more frequently the dressing will fill up with liquid and need replacing.
There are several thicknesses of hydrocolloid pad for example for different amounts of, er, exusion(?)
I found that I needed to change the pads daily for the first few days, then could keep them on for for 2-3 days after that. probably about 2 weeks for the wound to heal completely.
