Bike Show 2004

Hope you guys had a good time there. My high and low points were:

High
5. ?Tour De France Baby? Film
4. Seeing Ajays eyes light up with the possibility of buying a kids go kart.
3. Tyler Hamilton Film
2. With apologies for my un-Pcness, the blonde bird on the Mezzo stand
1. Getting a quality free espresso from Caffe Pascucci on the Riccione Bike Hotels stand and then being given a sample of their ?on-the-bike? sachets of pure espresso with sugar. This could be the best cycling product ever invented.

Low
5. Motorex ?lubing? my bike, seemingly with a gallon of oil.
4.The crowds. Being a Spurs supporter I?m just not use to it frankly.
3. Forgetting to pack a jacket and shorts so I had to round in full Addiscombe lycra. Whilst this may have advertised the club, I?m not sure if it was a good or bad advert.
2. With reference to no.2 above, remembering I was a fat git dressed in yellow lycra so not the most attractive proposition for the blonde bird (not that I would?ve tried to chat her up obviously).
1. After the euphoria of previously mentioned espresso product had worn off, the reality hitting me like a brick. If I have the espresso whilst riding, there?ll be no need for a coffee stop?..DOH!!!

Ah, that oil!!!

The bike parking people said: "Do you want your chain oiled?"

I said: "No thanks."

So they covered it in oil...

I would like to have seen that Himalayas film, but they cancelled it on the day I was there (Saturday)

agree on the oil! jeez they didn't use the back of the spoon with it (french expression).

espresso was good but the "on the" go drink tasted pretty foul i thought.

there was carbon everywhere.

craziest thing i saw: a carbon road frame where the rear brakes arms are solid carbon and flex when you squeeze the brake lever, like vbrakes but without the pivot (i have a photo of it but not yet - got bored of taking photos after ten minutes). another bike had carbon chainrings.

also the USE exposure lights which look great and almost had grahame and me ready to spend serious cash (http://www.exposurelights.com).

Liked:
Carbon fibre everywhere. Mostly a good thing although got CF blindness after a while
Nice coffee offering hotel owning Italians
Indoor trainer with giant screen

Not liked:
Specialized new bikes - e.g. Tarmac. Ugly don't you think?
Looking and not being able to ride the things
