Hi everyone,
good ride for me too..!
I was late when I got to CSS nobody was here anymore, but luckily after Merstham I caught up with the last group led by John, whom I have to thank for the warm welcome he gave me..few new riders were in the group, two girls and a guy(welcome) seemed to really enjoy it a lot, we rode a nice 15 mph steady pace to the Cafe', where after a nice cuppa Tea and cake, I decided to join the "Box hill group" although was scared of Robin the very competitive Australian girl, Nicolas the french guy and other very aggressive climbers who were on the other side of the road ready to "rock and roll"!
Rob Quinn, Adam the "experienced bike mechanic", named this way after helping me fixing my punctured wheel last time, John, Tim, Amy and Virginie..?(not sure about her name...Nicolas friend) and all the others of which unfortunately I don't know or remenber the names of...anyway I think we were about 15/16 riders.
Just about to attack the Box hill climb, when we had to stop to help a guy with his broken chain, and then instead of turning right towards the winding Box hill
way, we went straight over to Headley hill known as "Little Switzerland"...fantastic scenery, nice tarmac and very quiet to ride away from the traffic.
Attacking the hills, I felt stronger after losing 4 KILOS in two weeks(since the last ride)!
Robin was very aggressive as usual, and only a couple of guys were ahead, they were really flying up there...my speed computer was on 15/17 mph up the hill, I couldn't
believe it, so I wonder what their speed was in front, as I couldn't even think about going any faster than that.
Rob Quinn was coming up really fast too, Tim and John as well. It's nice to see that all us in the usual group are improving and enjoying more each time.
We than decide to stop for a coffee in front of the lake at Walton on hill, and then me and Rob headed back via Chipstead valley.
60 miles done for me, unfortunately this coming weekend I won't be able to join, but I'll be at the following club run.
Ciao a tutti, cheers everyone, salut tout le monde, a la prochaine fois!
