Postby Nick » Sun Jan 16, 2005 11:36 am

...........Good Morning to One and All (or evening if you read this later)............
Whilst on our ever wonderful club rides I got speaking to a few people mainly on a down hill strecth or flat :D (as you do during SPEED DATING :D ) and have discovered there are 2 or 3 of us that would like to take a TRACK BEGGINERS COURSE and also take OUR children along. I was wondering if there were any more members who would be interested in going it is not manditory that you have to have children but note the main purpose is for the Children to get them involved early enough to get them ready for 2012...........................well we can give them a start in the right direction. :D
If I have spoken to you can you still please post a reply to encourage the many other 100's to reply also....THANK YOU

I would also like to wish you all a MERRY XMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR for 2005...like to get in early to save the rush and forget....

Nick "The Dirty Cyclist" (After yestedays ride anyway)

PS I would also like to wish Ian Munnery a speedy Recovery as I missed him yesterday climbing BOX HILL (to be Honest I think he knew and shyed away :D :D only kidding get well Mate)

Not sure when Herne Hill reopens after the winter - March? but beginners of any age can turn up, get instruction and hire a a bike for a few quid on Saturdays mornings

My son (11 years old) and I are very keen to have a go. Apparently it is open all winter subject to weather

I will be taking one or two of my kids along when the rugby season finishes and the evenings get lighter.

There is usually a Friday evening session for kids once its light and you can take them along to the early saturday session (9.00am to 10.30am I think). There is also a kids off-road cycling session on Saturday mornings at HH.

Those of you wanting to start yourselves the best place to start is at the early saturday session or the ACC novices day which I will hopefully be arranging a little later this year ... watch this space.

ah, i can smell the urge of potential trackies a mile away!
well, heres an option for you......
how about you hire a track such as newport or Manchester for 3 hours, get a minimum of 24 adults and as many kids as you like along to cover the costs and i can get you all riding on the track in no time as i am an accredited track coach.
you need to choose a track with decent hire bikes and at this time of year... one with a roof.
Herne hill wont be fully rideable until early march i would have thought and even then i wont go near the place until i have inspected it closely.
