Sounds like it was a good (if thats the right word, probably didnt feel like it at the time when grappling with gravity) ride. Other than White Down,Cold harbour what other hills are there in the environs so i can get a bit of practice in so IF I do the next next Hilly ride wont get completely left behind.

Paul I know the route fairly well and would be willing to lead a ride in the near future - around a few hills at not such a breakneck speed if yuo are interested.

Hey Ian, it was not a quick ride we were very restrained. Paul in regards to your question on what are good hills, well if you cycle over to Cranleigh and then just before you get to the town centre turn right towards Shere. There is a superb climb which starts off steady and ends on a nice 21% slope.

Also another good one is if you go down Leigh Hill towards Ockley and then turn right at the bottom, then go along about a mile down the road take the right turn and then about 100 yards up is Tanshurst Lane. This has a challenging hill. About 16-18% and the road always has running water down the middle of it and lots and lots of pot holes to contend with.

Cheers

Marek....

p.s. if you want to know where they all are then come along on the next hilly ride.

The boys were indeed v restrained....they had to be otherwise they'd have got too cold waiting for me to bring up the rear. Wasn't an easy ride by any stretch of the imagination but was definitely a do-able ride.

Thanks for that Marek, Tanhurst Lane sounds particulaly unpleaseant, I rembember passing the turn off on the way to Holmbury St Mary and it sounded familiar. I seem to be getting a bit obsessed with hills at the moment so I'll stop being so lilly livered and come out on the next hilly ride.

Ian a guided tour of steep(ish) bits sounds good.

see you on the club run
