Well now. I followed the advice and obtained:

Specialized skinny tyres  Dombo
Luggage rack
Panniers  Tamar 'n' Keef

Last Sunday I spannered and tinkered, tinkered and spannered (sorry, too many Mr Men books of late  )

Blow me down, my mtb don't look like no mtb no mo.

And it zips along nicely 8)

Got into Central London nice & dry. Didn't quite manage that on the return.

Dan & I passed each other near Hackbridge, he gave me a nod. Me being an ole duffer tho I didn't clock him until.......and he was gone, whoosh.

Any road up, looks like I'm set for some kwality winter training on me modded mtb 8)

I thought I was getting home relatively dry last night, until about 200m from home. Rounded a blind corner where the road dips down under a railway bridge, and it was flooded to a depth of about 4 inches. Took me by surprise, no time to stop, so I had to ride straight through it. Took Conor by surprise too, as he was sitting on my wheel at the time.
