GB TEAM FUNDING UP
UK Sport ? the nation?s lead elite sport agency ? has unveiled its four-year plan designed to build upon the success of Athens. 14 Olympic sports, including cycling, will receive an enhanced funding settlement between 2005 and 2009, from a total summer Olympic investment of £75m ? an increase of £5m over the Sydney to Athens cycle. British Cycling's funding will rise from £6.8 million to £7.9 million, reflecting the success of the GB Team in meeting Sports Council goals over the last 4 years. Other sports who are effectively rewarded for performances include sailing, equestrian and rowing. Among the big losers in the equation are Athletics, Judo and Triathlon.
