Box Hill today...

CLOSED BY POLICE!!!

It was crazy, have never seen it so bad. I had already fallen off up near Ranmore, albeit at about 2km/h! Then at the bottom of Box the rozzers were saying it was closed, as cars were getting stuck up there. But they said I was welcome to try it! Made it to where the cars had gotten stuck before I had to walk. It was just about rideable until you get to where the trees start covering the road before the last hairpin. Then it was just basically a sheet of compressed snow. It seems cycling shoes with Shimano cleats at least act rather like crampons, so I had no trouble walking past yet more coppers who were practically falling overthemselves... shame.

Still, it was rather pretty:

It was almost as cold again today as it was in Calshot on Saturday afternoon!

I fell off a few years ago going up box hill on the last hairpin where the trees cover. Was going up with a group of about 5 or 6, someone else hit the ice patch and then shouted ICE, I think the shout made me jump a bit and as I was on the I just went flying, nothing I could do just went down hard on my shoulder, it still feels dodgy and that was about 4 years ago. That last corner just doesn't get any sun. Be careful out there.

Cheers

MArek...

When I fell, I was rolling along as it was quicker than walking... Had my left foot out scooting along, unfortunately I skidded to the left, so ended up on my right arse cheek, and laughing!!
