Sad post on another forum

That is a very sad read.

Keep your eyes and ears open out there folks, I know accidents happen but just take that little extra care and maybe just add those few extra seconds onto your day.

My thought are with her friends and family.

Do you think we should try to attend the ride they are planning in mid March? or at least ask them if they need our support?

Looks like a memorial ride is planned for 7th March and that there are already about 100 riders who have said they will go

Yes, I read that too. I have seen some HGVs with big stickers on the back warning cyclists to stay back and not filter. Still desperately sad though, whatever the circumstances. Particularly that it did not get a mention in the news.

I sent the club an email this morning offering my codolences and asked them to pass it on to the girls (Eilidh's) boyfiend and family.

I did ask if they needed 'our' support on the ride, hope that was ok. I didn't say we would all go but did they need our support, that's all.

Sad news,

2009-03-07 Sat - Eilidh memorial ride - 12:30pm Start Time


Morning people,

So not the happiest reason to have a ride, but as some of you may or may not have read. A fellow cyclist was killed on her commute at Notting Hill Gate on the morning of 5th Feb. 09 (http://www.londonfgss.com/thread16171.html)

This ride is one of the LFGSS ideas which Giles (velcro) and Eilidh's family and friends would love to go a head.

The ride date at the moment is the Sat. 7th March, Starting at 12:30pm.

If you could just bring a flower and we can tie them to the railings once we get there, rather than wearing all black or arm bands etc. (giles's wishes)

Just putting this out there so everyone knows whats going on.

Lets get together in a proper LFGSS way.

Dear all

I'm a friend of Eilidh and Giles.

Just wanted to let you all know that I think the support and sentiment you have expressed on this forum has been extraordinary and evidently says a lot about the cycling fraternity in London.

Also to let you know that as a keepsake for Giles and Eilidh's family, at their request, I'm making a short film of Saturday's ride.

Subsequently, there will be a couple of cameras at the bandstand and at Notting Hill Gate. I'd like to stress that this won't mean a news or film crew rocking up and shoving cameras in everyone's faces, or invading anyone's space at such a difficult time, far from it. The idea is to not film individuals but the collective gathering and to portray a sense of the coming together as well as the movement of so many riders en masse.

I've also got a couple of mini-cams, one of which will be mounted to Giles frame. I'm trying to find a forum member who would be prepared to take on the other camera, preferably someone who is going to be riding at the front of the pack. If there's anybody out there who's up for this, mail me and I can give more info.
