[quote="Sylv"]with wiggle you can use paypal

I'm pretty sure that was one of the measures they put in so that they could try and win back some lost confidence with people who still didn't want to store their data with Wiggle.

Haven't bought from either Wiggle or Ribble for a couple of years. I don't think I would use either of them again now regardless of their good offers. :(

Wiggle and Ribble say their systems are secure.

What a load of dribble from Wiggle and Ribble.

Some one find Top-cat and get Officer Dibble on the case to investigate Ribble and Wiggle.

Can't hang around, going to have a nibble before I go out.

I got an email message yesterday to confirm that my password on the credit card "Secure" service had been changed. Given that I hadn't changed it, it came as a bit of a surprise to me. On contacting the card company it seems that someone was trying to use my card details. I have used Ribble several times (excellent service) so it is possible that this was the source of the problem. Perhaps I'll have to stick to GBs and payment in readies in future (though they don't always seem to have stock available).

My card was cloned last week, although the purchase was declined ...so Ribble could well be the source.

Presumably though you've all been refunded, because the Consumer Credit Act* says:

"The debtor under a regulated consumer credit agreement shall not be liable to the creditor for any loss arising from use of the credit facility by another person not acting, or to be treated as acting, as the debtor’s agent."

Ultimately, it's the retailer who takes the fake card who loses out.

*Section 83(1). And, yes, I'll try and get out more.

Latest update: According to the local freebie rag, Budgens on Moyser Road SW17 has been targeted as well. Not a problem for most of us, as last time I looked they had no good deals going on Zipp 404s, but at least one Agreeable lives close enough to get his beer and fags from them  .

Yeah , Zoe had her card cloned last week so she told a couple of mates who told a couple of mates and it turns out we know at least 30 peeps who have had their cards done too ..

Guess what they all used them in Budgens.

The local rozzers didnt want to know at first but are now "investigating" apparantly

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]I haven't used Ribble since July, but that said my Egg card was cloned and used in Slough and Darlington on the same day for pay as you go cards. Needless to say I stopped the card straight away.

Same happend to me POS use to pay O2 in Slough just the one transaction for £30 on 24th Oct., Natwest cancelled the debit card as soon as I called them and refunded the £30, just filling in their fraud form now. Nat west said O2 were there biggest fraud payments. I have used Ribble in the past as well as many other online payments so who knows.

My card details have been cloned again. I would love to know how they are getting the details.

I thought Ribble had cleaned up their act following the problems they'd had. Wiggle seem to have done as I've had no problems from them. I used Ribble for the first time in months a couple of weeks ago as I hadn't heard any nasty stories recently, guess I'd better call the credit card company  .

It may not be Ribble of course as there are any number of ways they nick your details these days. Petrol stations is one of the most common I heard. They pick an all night one and bung a few quid to the sole cashier to use their (identical looking) chip and pin machine, then nip around the corner with a laptop and grab all the details when you put your card in to what is actually a card reader.

they show up as pay as you go top ups or something if they are using a cloned card, apparently the pay as you go cards with chips you get are very similar to bank cards so they copy the details onto the PAYG cards, and then they can actually use the PAYG cards to get real money from an ATM. I think 30 quid is the limit they can do in one transaction on one of those cards though..
