Road parts needed!

There's a couple of things I need to replace on the new road bike, so I might as well ask here before looking elsewhere:

- STI levers: ideally Ultegra for double chainring and 9-speed rear, in top condition.

- Handlebars: I'm a bit weary of aluminium ones especially after a few years of use, so might splash out on some carbon ones, not sure if I need 42 or 44cm yet, could consider either standard or oversized diameter.

- Stem: might need a shorter one, 90 or 100mm, for 1" steerer, same as bars for diameter.


I have a nice seatpost which I don't need, I believe it is a Shimano, 27.0mm diameter, layback one-bolt clamp, steel shaft, 300mm, weight around 260gm, if anyone interested for £15.

Nothing wrong with aluminium bars Sylv.

I've got Cinneli RAM on my colnago & Deda Newton's on my Viner.
To be honest, £90 for stem & bars when racing (and crashing) is alot cheaper & less painful to replace..... £400 bars look good but aren't all that! I've already cracked one pair & I only laid the bike down at 10mp/h!

Speaking of which, I have Newtons 42 'ergo' (I replaced them for the 'shallow') & 110 newton stem both bought this year & crash free.

Willing to off load them for £35 if interested.

Yeah I saw those crazy prices for bars! but had seen some FSA on offer for less than £100. Haven't used alu bars on mtb for years, and the accepted rule there is that you replace alu bars every year or couple years, crashes not included. It feels like there's a good deal of torsion forces applied to road bars, possibly more than on a mtb, and mine are already creaking a bit.

I'll look into those alu bars/stem of yours Brett, and let you know later.

Brett, I think you're the same size as me (5ft 6.5"), do you have a reference measurement for your road bikes' reach - for mtb I use back of saddle to centre of hand on bars - this or something similar? Thanks
