Excellent Marco! I had an impromptu ride myself yesterday and it was great too. Wasn't planning to ride that day, but after having spent the morning working on my mtbs (the SSunn which I hadn't touched since the snow days in Feb, and which bottom bracket was shot, the Ibis which I finally took apart and planning to send to US master framebuilder Steve Potts for repair of the crack, and the Yeti which was full of Gorrick sand) whilst listening to the rain, at 3pm decided it was too nice outside not to and hopped on the singlespeed.

The computer on that bike had a dead battery, my Garmin wasn't charged, so I went out with nothing at all - no watch, not even my phone - first time I can remember doing that in a long time! I did the Wall of Death route (going down chocolate éclair). I was planning on taking it easy on the climbs, and blasting through the singletrack to refresh my off-road skills a little for the upcoming racing. The great thing about the SS though is you don't tire yourself as much as with gears, so I was surprisingly fast without even trying up some of the climbs I generally fear (the big rutty one first and foremost!). Trails were 100% dry even that horse path I can't remember ever seing dry. A lot of nettles to get the blood flowing though!

After that loop which must be about 40km, my legs still wanted a bit more, so I lengthened it a little via Conduit and Croham Hurst. Very good!
