Went out for a ride on Sunday with a couple of friends, nothing too stressful, just a bimble over Farthing downs and up to Nutfield.
We were riding along the A25 at one point when our left turn came up.
I thought it was a bit odd that there was a guy there in a flourescent jacket waving a flag and saying, "That's it lads, keep left."
A couple of minutes later, a car beeped and then went flying past with a yellow light on the roof. Then the penny dropped and I said to my friend, "Er Mike, I think we've entered a race......."
I barely heard the reply as dozens of racers swept by. Fortunately, we were on a downhill section so managed to hitch a ride along with the pack until they spat us out the back.
The whole experience, the sound and the energy was amazing and left us grinning from ear to ear. Not sure what category they were but if any of you reading this were held up by a couple of tourists at the weekend, i'm a tiny bit sorry........
