Andy does strange things ...like riding a 12 hour on a MTB (and topping 300 miles!!!!!) and LEJOG on a Moulton, and the fastest ever in a faired recumbent, so he's probably not the best role model

I have the quite old versions of these Cosmic hoops, they look good, they sound good when you whip them up to speed. I think they are heavyish, but most wheels with the faring are going to be a bit heavier than most. I am thinking about getting some new deep section wheels, if you want to make me an offer for my Cosmics. I have only used them a few times every year, predominantly as a spare if one of my other wheels are out of action or if I am doing a flat course or a time trial. They are very strong, they have held me up and have never gone out of true.

They take a campy cassette.

Cheers

Marek....

[quote="Marek"] but most wheels with the faring are going to be a bit heavier than most.

Carbon tub rims without an aluminium brake surface attached are very light, my PXs are super light and very free spinning. If you're interested in tubs as they'll only be race wheels then I'll have mine at the Club TT on Tuesday if you want a shufty. The ones I have are a strong build Marek with a reasonable amount of spokes. Obviously strength is more of an issue with your wheels but I think they can build them up pretty strong and PX are very helpful if you phone them up for a chat. You could give them your vital statistics and they'd be able to say yay or nay, spoke count and type of spokes to use etc.

PX rims are Gigantex rims. I don't think you can buy them separately from PX anymore.

Derek @ Wheelsmith.co.uk carries the Gigantex rims in 19mm, 38mm & 50mm deep.

Gigantex 19mm 20h or 24h: £120 each. Internal nipples
Gigantex 38mm (24h only): £130 each. Internal nipples
Gigantex 50mm 20h or 24h: £150 each. External nipples

The Gigantex 50mm rim weigh 450ish grams as a comparison my own LEW Pro VT-1 46mm deep rims are in the 290 grams mark and cost £300 ea in 2007.
