Beastway series 2009

Postby higg » Thu Jun 25, 2009 1:21 pm

Details below for the Beastway series starting soon.

This year it's moving across the road to Hog Hill cycle centre. For those that don't know this a very approachable side to MTB racing with a big spread of abilities. After the first lap or so everyone is usually spread out and involved in their own private tussles. It's best to plan to arrive around 7 to give time for registration and a practice lap before the official start.

Addiscombe will be providing helpers for one of these dates, more details when I know. (Graeme, do you know which date ?)

================================================================================================

Beastway is back and Hog Hill will be the new home of this popular London based grass roots mountain biking series this summer. The site has recently been seeded so the first race has been delayed to 1 July to let the grass establish.

The format remains as before and the short course races will use sections of the surfaced trails linked together with a variety of established woodland and newly planted areas.

Dates
There will be 4 race nights, 1, 8, 15, 22, July and a team race and prize giving on 29 July. If the weather remains dry expect fast dusty trails but this could change very quickly if we have rain to leave a very sticky circuit.

Cats
Categories are for men and women: Juniors, Expert, Sport, Masters, Veterans, Under 14, Under 16 and Singlespeed. Racing starts at 7.30pm for 1 hour, (Youth A & B categories start at 7.50pm)

Entry fees
£10 Senior, £7 concessions (UB40, OAP, Student, Junior), £5 Youth A & B.

The circuit will be built each week from 3pm. Anyone who can help us with this, or can help us on the gardening days will get a free ride."

Help
Beastway need to prepare some trails and volunteers are required on 17 and 24 June from 6.30pm prior to the start of the series to help with this. Contact Ray Blackwell if you can help on 07970082541 for more details.

Venue:
The venue is the new purpose built Redbridge Cycle Centre, known also as Hog Hill, and has full facilities including showers and lockers - www.redbridgecyclingcentre.co.uk/
