Worst value bike ride

Postby Mike I » Mon Jun 29, 2009 3:22 pm

A few people have grumbled about the cost of UK sportives. But what's the worst value ride out there?

Here's my nomination http://www.tourride.co.uk/rides/stage_8.asp

Yep, that's fifty of your hard-earned pounds to ride 20km. Or [gets out abacus ... mm ... :?] £2.50 per km. Or if you prefer imperial, £1 11s 2d per mile.

I know it's for charidee on closed roads and that, but somebody is having a laugh, aren't they?

I looked at doing this one too but then I saw the price! I think you get a free jersey and a couple of other bits but it's a lot of wedge for very little riding time.

I think it's targeted to a wider audience than the usual sportive/club rider so they'll probably fill it with a load of cyclists who are only safe to ride on closed roads anyway!
