This is a report from a friend who did today's womens' team-series that I should have been doing. Thank god I didn't...
"Only me and Rachel showed...Eryn got lost but dunno what happened to Claire.
We drove the circuit, it was shocking road surface wise, wet and oily.
Only aim was to survive. Few attacks but no one got away for any length of
time. Unfortunately Rachel punctured on the second to last lap which was a real
shame as we could have had a go at getting away. To be hoenst I doubt we
would have got far as all the good teams were there and had quite a few from
each.
In the final few miles someone's saddle came off. It hit a few of us but we
thought it was a bottle. Realised after it was a saddle and stupid cow
carried on riding at the front of the race, out of the saddle. She couldn't
maintain it and eventually it looks like it was her that caused a pile up.
I'd moved up in the final lap so was right in the firing line. There was a
pile of bikes in front of me and nothing I could do about it. Came out of it
ok though, bit bruised but some had lots of damage to their bikes and a
couple of girls went to hospital. Really pissed off as was optimistic of a
top 20 in the sprint.. Just annoyed really, really annoyed!"
Hope they're ok but you have to say this is hillarious
