Those of you familiar with my climbing ability may be surprised to know that Del and I are off to the Alps in September. We have been to the Pyrenees a couple of times but this is first time in the Alps. We are staying at the King of the Mountains lodge - http://www.kingofthemountains.co.uk and will be arriving on Monday 6th - leaving Sunday 13th. The lodge is close to Bourg d'Oisans and is well placed for many of the famous climbs - Alpe d'Huez, Telegraphe, Galibier, Croix de Fer, etc. I believe a few ACC guys have stayed there before.
Speaking with Guy who runs KOTM he has some spare places in that week, so if any other ACC people are interested in joining us.....
As part of the week, we're planning to cover the Marmotte route at sometime but unlike the hardy folks who did it in July, we will be tackling the route over two days
Other than that, we will take things as they come - taking in a col or two each day - enjoying the break as well as the cycling
So If anyone is interested or anyone has any recommendations for day rides from Bourg d'Oisans - let us know.
