8 sp campag set up

Postby Jim B » Tue Oct 11, 2005 12:52 pm

I've got an 8 speed setup on my winter bike, but despite lots of TLC the back wheel is slowing giving up.
I've seen some reasonable priced wheelsets, but they specify 9/10 speed.
Can I run an 8 speed set up on these wheels? I don't want to make major changes to the drivetrain as I replaced it a few months ago.
Any experience/suggestions welcome.
Could be interested in second hand wheels if someone has some reasonable ones.

I think Campag changed the spline pattern and/or cassette width when they went from 8 to 9 speed, so you could be stuffed.
But, you might be able to get a modified cassette to work with 8 speed Ergos on a 9/10 speed hub.

Check out ebay, I reckon you will find loads of 8 speed back wheels.

Cheers

Could be interested. What sort of condition are they in and what price are you looking for?

They're in good condition. Would be looking for £80 the pair.
