Which brake pads?

Postby Andrew G » Thu Nov 05, 2009 2:48 pm

Other than the take it to the shop and ask route, does anyone know what brake pads my Giant XTC3.5 takes? (Giant's own hydraulic disc brakes)

As a general rule of thumb do you get manufacturer's replacements for disc brakes or are there any recommended 3rd party pads that are better?

Ta.

EBC and Fibrax are both recognised as good suppliers of "aftermarket" disc brake pads.

If these are the right shape, a few sets of the Gold (sintered) pads would be a bargain investment. Of course, if they are the wrong shape, they won't be a bargain at all.

I use EBC in my Hope Mono Minis as recommended by bike shop.

Thanks fellas.

Ta for the link Grahame, at that price (76% discount!!!) I've ordered 4 pairs anyway. If they turn out to be the wrong shape then I'll still probably make a profit flogging them on ebay :D .

Be sure to carry a spare pair when riding over Leith Hill. When it rains the silt mixed with the rain can finish off a new pair of pads in less than 1 day.
