The New Decade starts here. Say goodbye to the Noughties and hello to a brand new you. Reigate and Redhill YMCA are proud to announce the new Fundraising Challenge Programme 2010. This year, the events are even more exciting, more challenging and will definitely be even more fun!
Hill walking, trekking, running, cycling …… whatever your preference, there will be an event perfect for you. It doesn’t matter if you are an absolute beginner or a seasoned Challenger; you are invited to join us on TUESDAY 19TH JANUARY 2010 at the YMCA in Redhill for the Official Launch of the Challenge 2010 Programme. The evening kicks off at 7pm and the Challenge Team will inform you of what you can look forward to in 2010.
In the meantime, to whet your appetite a bit of a taster below
[size=150]CYCLING[/size]
- Bike it Paris III (3rd – 6th June): Back by popular demand, this event is suitable for absolutely anyone. 175 miles of quite stunning cycling in three days starting at YMCA Redhill and finishing in the captivating and romantic city of Paris. Full training will be provided to ensure that even if you have never been on a bike before, you will meet your challenge and experience the joy of cycling through France.
- Redhill to the Rock (23rd June – 4th July): Yes, it’s true; you will be cycling from YMCA Redhill to the Rock of Gibraltar. A ten day cycling extravaganza that will see you cycle through the most challenging yet beautiful and unspoilt scenery that Spain has to offer.
- Bike it Wessex Way (5th – 8th August): After the success of last year’s inaugural off road cycling event, we are doing another one, but this time it is going to be bigger and better! A three day 150 mile journey from Weston Super-Mare to Winchester through a historic and beautiful off road trail. A programme of free training is available to everyone who would like to experience the thrill of off road cycling
[size=150]RUNNING[/size]
- The YMCA Annual Charity Fun Run (Sunday 2nd May): This is now a well established and popular community event. A five and one mile race for adults plus one mile races for children. The perfect day out for the whole family.
[size=150]HILL WALKING[/size]
- The Welsh 3000s (15th – 18th July): Its back! Your chance to conquer all 15 peaks over 3000ft in Snowdonia. There will be a two and one day option depending on your goal. An ideal chance to test your fitness and ascend infamous peaks such as Crib Goch, Snowdon and Tryfan
- Yorkshire 3 Peaks (10th – 12th September): The perfect end to the Challenge 2010 Programme. A demanding but rewarding 23.5 mile walk taking in the summits of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.
[size=150]TREKKING[/size]
- Y2Y North Downs Marathon (Sunday 28th March): This is now a popular and much anticipated event in the Walking Calendar, a choice of the full 26.2 miles or half 13.1 miles from Guildford YMCA to Redhill YMCA and running option for those wanting to speed things up!
- South Downs Trek (Sunday 15th August): A perfect complement to the Y2Y North Downs Trek, is the highly regarded South Downs Trek. A 20 mile walk from Lewes to Eastbourne across the stunning South Downs and accompaniment from the Spitfires and Hurricanes from the Airshow.
We offer a full programme of training for both walking and cycling events and for those of you new to cycling or want to brush up your skills we are holding a Bike Clinic/Workshop on Saturday 6th February here at the YMCA. Come along with your bike and our team of experts will check your bike out for you ensuring it is suitably set up for your specific requirements, plus the team will be talking about general bike safety, maintenance and cycling on the road.
The Challenge Programme has been set up to raise money for vital YMCA projects helping disadvantaged and vulnerable children and you people in East Surrey. Not only will you be meeting a personal challenge whilst getting fit you will also be changing the lives of vulnerable children and young people in the community.
We will fully support you throughout your training and during the events. Plus any Challenger taking part in an event who takes up our 6 month Loyalty Membership will received a FREE induction and FREE programme (proof of deposit payment required).
