As training diets go...

...this one couldn't get any worse. White bread, kids' cereals, ready meals, chocolate bars... maybe he's hoping to just bob along on the current?

Could anyone really be this stupid, or has the Metro let its rigorous journalistic standards slip just this once? Seems fatties and their irresponsible diets are OK with them as long as it's for chariddy...

Can sharks lick their lips (outside the pages of Viz, that is)? If so, they must be looking forward to this one.

kid's cereals (frosties are my fav) and choc bars, yum, should be a part of any balanced diet. White bread, only good for toast. Ready meals for emergencies only.

Am I missing something? Surely for a 4-month swim he's not just planning to get in and swim till he reaches the other side, so why does he need 10 stone of fuel on board? I would have thought he'd have a support boat to use for sleeping and eating. OK, a bit of fat will help with insulation and bouyancy, but his plan seems a little extreme.

Anyway, if he wants to be a whale he should be eating plankton.
